Welcome to the UCLA Alpha Chi Omega website! I am so honored my sisters have chosen me to serve as our 2012 Chapter President and cannot wait for all of the exciting events we have planned for this upcoming year. I hope as you look around the site you get a glimpse into the amazing life of an Alpha Chi Omega here at UCLA.
Alpha Chi Omega is more than just a sorority. Most importantly, Alpha Chi creates a social and academic support system and challenges us to reach our full potential. Our sisterhood is made up of independent and motivated young women who love to have fun, genuinely enjoy spending time with one another, and desire to be successful in all aspects of their lives.
Alpha Chi provides us not only with countless opportunities to get involved not only in Greek life but also in the greater UCLA and Los Angeles communities. In Alpha Chi our calendars are filled with a wide variety of events ranging from date-parties/formals and “Raids” with fraternities, to movies nights, trips to the beach, tailgates to Bruin football games, and community service projects like volunteering at AIDs Walk LA. Additionally, we frequently have events with other southern California Alpha Chi Omega chapters and local alumni groups. Being an Alpha Chi means not only having a home away from home at UCLA, but also joining a nationwide sisterhood.
Last year during the 2011 Winter Quarter, we held our first annual “Best in the West” Texas Hold-em poker tournament. This fundraiser was held to promote domestic violence awareness, our national philanthropy. The tournament was a huge success and we were able to raise $20,000 which was more than any other Greek organization at UCLA raised for their philanthropy last year.
Whether I was attending a social event, fundraising for our Philanthropy, having a late night study session at Powell, or just simply spending quality time with my sisters at home – I know that I will look back on the memories I have made here at Alpha Chi as my favorite memories from college. I would have never expected Alpha Chi Omega to have impacted my life as profoundly as it has, and I wish I could express in words how much this chapter means to me.
I hope your choice of membership into a sorority will give you the same life-changing experience I have had with Alpha Chi Omega.
Loyally,
Tiffany Moy,
Alpha Psi Chapter President
